Walk in the Park

The day 16 prompt is to write a curtal sonnet. This was my first time writing in this style and it was definitely challenging, but here’s my take –

He ambled down the fern lined gravel stone trail
where the rays of light danced between branches
and fell into the garden of leafy bracken.
This spot has become something of a holy grail
among the whipper-snappers from the ranch
where the fires have left stumps blackened.
The cycle of rebirth persists from dusk to dawn
but when the dozers arrive, they cranch
and with no regards, they send the attack in.
This spot is home to elk, bobcats, and fawn
Let them back in.
