The Saturday Shirt

Missed a couple days 😥 today’s prompt had to do with honoring the idea of Saturday so I wrote about this shirt my dad has worn every Saturday for years.

Every seven days it emerges
From the depths of the closet
Tried and true
Rugged and worn
Without fail
The burnt rustic Eddie Bauer thermal
One of a kind
Not passed on for generations
The only true indicator
That the weekend has arrived
To be cloaked in the shirt
An honor unbeknownst by most
Symbolic of a week gone by
And in dire times
The only beacon of hope
The only reminder there is more to life than a 9-5
The only shirt dad ever wears on Saturday
