The Insectoid from Eleus

Still trailing by a day, oof. Yesterday’s prompt was to use a word from the Classical Dictionary and a word from the Historical Dictionary of Science Fiction, then create a poem out of it. The words I used were Eleus defined as a “city of Thrace – A river of Media – A king of Elis” and insectoid defined as “an insect like alien”. Wrote a little Tanka:

From under the shrub
Emerged the eerie creature
Lost like a stout monk
Antennas perked, eyeballs rolled
Ready to conquer the world
