Agar Bati

Playing a bit of catch up on this one. The prompt was to write a concrete poem where the words are shaped into an image that captures a theme of the poem. I did it the old fashion way – on paper.

Text:

In tranquility and silence
We strike a match
Igniting the tip of the bamboo sprig
A solemn practice that far transcends our lives
In which we partake without blinking an eye
The blend of resin, sage, wood
Softly combusts
Emitting fragrant narrow wisps
Of dusty rose smoke
And as time drifts along
Our serene thoughts
Converge with the aroma
Transporting us to our ancestral abodes
For blind ritual
Is the only passageway

    Really good. Like the calligram.
