Posting these a little late, but the day 14 prompt is to write the opening scene for the movie of your life. I wrote the first scene kind of in the style of a screenplay.
Fade in
Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother playing in the background
Ext. Morning Bagel Run
In the heart of East Manhattan, the spring Sunday morning queue begins to form outside of Bagels and Schmear. There is light banter recapping Saturday night, complaints about rising rent and talk of the new Tibetan exhibit at the Rubin.
RUSHIL early 20s snags a spot in line sporting his beaten tan chappal, black Adidas sweatpants and cream white loosely fitting quarter zip sherpa accompanied by his old buddy MOOK.
Int. The Bagel Shop
As they make their way inside joining the line snaking around the shop, they are overwhelmed by the scent of lightly toasted bagels and fresh ground coffee.
Joker and the Thief fades out
RUSHIL to BAGEL GUY 1
“Can I get a sesame with jalepano cream cheese and coffee black?”
BAGEL GUY 1
“NEXT!”
RUSHIL and MOOK inch closer to the register quickly. They fish through their pockets fumbling around for a credit card.
REGISTER GAL 1 to RUSHIL
“Cash only!”
RUSHIL to MOOK
“Shit bro you got cash?”
MOOK
“Rip nope….”
Unaudible RUSHIL and MOOK proceed to barter with REGISTER GAL 1 finally convincing her to take the card. They slide the Sapphire Reserve under the Plexiglass barrier and grab the brown paper bag and Dixie cups with the slightly burnt coffee from the counter. They laugh, and make their way towards the exit onto 28th, out into the dewey morning.
