Day 1 of Poetry month! Today’s prompt was to write something inspired by this animated version of “Seductive Fantasy” by Sun Ra and his Arkestra. Decided to run with free verse for the first day… so without further ado:
vinegared rice and seaweed
sushi or sashimi
under the MasBlue neon hue
trembling chopsticks twirling about
the fiddler fiddling a saxophone
the tabalchi twiddling the fiddle
basking under the hand of God
their karmic particles cascading about
the Caribbean bloke on the tele
rambling on politics of the sea
and butterflies remixing Ziggy
nothing but cheers erupting about
